Berre+Ellefsen

Vi etablerte B+E høsten 2018 og gjør nå vår lange erfaring tilgjengelig for offentlige og private oppdragsgivere. B+E har kompetanse innenfor arkitektur, urbanisme, arkitekturhistorie og kulturminnevern. Vi rådgir i byutviklings- og transformasjonsoppgaver, kuraterer og produserer utstillinger og publikasjoner, og leder forsknings- og formidlingsprosjekter. Vi arbeider i nettverk for å øke bredden i vår kompetanse, og for å kunne gjennomføre oppdrag som krever stor kapasitet.

Siden vi startet den nye praksisen har vi vært engasjert i byplanoppdrag som Tettstedet Tangen på Nesodden (med Lie Øyen arkitekter), Mulighetsstudie for Larvik sentrum og Regionplan for Jæren (begge i samarbeid med LPO arkitekter). Vi har kuratert den norske arkitekturutstillingen på DAM (Deutsches Architekturmuseum) under bokmessa i Frankfurt i 2019 kalt «In Norwegian Landscapes. Hunting High and Low». Vi har gjennomført kompetanseoppbygging bl.a. i byggesaksbehandling i Bærum kommune og evalueringer for Undervisningsbygg i Oslo kommune.

Samtidig fortsetter vi akademiske arbeider om norsk arkitekturhistorie og norsk byplanhistorie og holder foredrag om dette (noen forelesninger er tilgjengelige i vår kunnskapsdatabase). Samarbeidet med Central Academy of Fine Arts i Kina om «The urbanization of the Chinese Countryside» bringes videre på ulike måter og kobles til studier av rural bosetting, bl.a. fiskeribosetting langs kysten av Nord Norge. Nina Berre

Nina Berre is partner in Berre+Ellefsen. She is educated as an architect with a doctoral degree in architectural history from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.  

Berre is Head of School of Landscape Architecture at the University of Life Sciences, Ås, Norway. She was Head of Institute at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO) 2020–2022, and Director of Architecture at the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design 2010–2018. She is former Director of Norsk Form, the Foundation for Design and Architecture in Norway (DogA), Head of the Board in Lie Øyen Architects, and Head of the Board in Oslo Architecture Triennale.

Berre regularly publishes, curates, teaches and lectures on architecture, architectural history and cultural heritage, do city walks and architectural evaluation consultancy.

Karl Otto Ellefsen

Karl Otto Ellefsen has since he was educated as an architect in 1975 headed his own consultant firm within architecture and urbanism. Since August 2018 he is a partner in Berre+Ellefsen. Curating Architecture and Urbanism.

Ellefsen was a professor in planning at NTH/NTNU until 1995. He is Emerited Professor in Architecture and Urbanism at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO) and Professor at the Visual Art centre at Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. He was heading AHO as Rector from 2001 – 2015. Ellefsen has taught architecture and urbanism in universities since 1984, and has headed doctoral programs and given PhD supervision since the beginning of the 1990`s. He chaired the Norwegian Urban Research Program in the Norwegian Research Council from 2001 to 2005.

His studies and teaching have focused on urban development and urban strategies in Norwegian cities. His fields of research are urban strategies, urban history, architectural theory and architectural critique. He has a wide international experience and served until 2017 as president of the European Association for Architectural Education (EAAE). From 2005 and onwards he headed a PhD program on East African Cities, cooperating with East African Universities. From 2015 he is heading a PhD program on the Urbanization of the Chinese Countryside. He is currently doing research and is publishing on the history of Norwegian Town Planning.

His consultancy in B+E is mostly practiced within the fields of Urbanism and Urban Design.
